Captain Mark Machado’s journey into fishing began at the age of five, casting lines alongside his father in California’s freshwater streams. Over time, that early curiosity turned into a lifelong passion. With decades of hands-on experience and a deep respect for the sport, Mark has earned recognition from national fishing publications and television programs. His approach is rooted in patience, knowledge, and a genuine love for teaching others—qualities that make him not just a guide, but a mentor on the water.
As the president of the Laguna Madre Fly Fishing Association, Captain Mark is widely respected for his expertise in both conventional and fly fishing techniques. He’s built a reputation as one of the region’s most knowledgeable inshore guides, especially when it comes to targeting Snook, Redfish, Flounder, and Jack Crevalle in the unique waters of South Texas. His understanding of the tides, local flats, and seasonal movements helps anglers consistently find fish in a variety of conditions.
Captain Mark takes pride in making each trip enjoyable and rewarding for anglers of all skill levels. Whether you're a seasoned fly angler chasing technical shots or a first-time fisherman looking for a stress-free introduction to the sport, he creates a welcoming environment that encourages learning, fun, and success on the water. His calm, focused guidance gives guests confidence, and his stories and experience keep the day engaging from start to finish.
About the Boat
Fishing trips with Captain Mark take place aboard a 19’ Mako bay boat designed for the shallow estuaries and bay systems of South Texas. The vessel is powered by a reliable 115 HP Mercury engine, allowing smooth travel at speeds up to 35 knots. With space for up to four anglers, the boat is equipped with GPS navigation, required safety gear, a live bait well, and dedicated fly fishing setups.
