Captain Mark Machado has been passionate about fishing since the age of five, when he first took up the sport. Growing up, he frequently fished alongside his father in the freshwater streams of California, developing a lifelong love for the water. Over the years, his expertise has earned him recognition in various fishing magazines and television shows. As the president of the Laguna Madre Fly Fishing Association, he is widely regarded as a specialist in fly fishing. He enjoys having anglers aboard and helping them land fish. Snook On A Hook offers inshore fishing trips in Texas, targeting species like Snook, Redfish, Jack Crevalle, and Flounder. These year-round trips cater to both experienced anglers and beginners looking to test their skills against strong and tasty fish. Anglers fishing with Captain Mark benefit from his extensive local knowledge, ensuring access to productive fishing grounds. His reputation extends beyond guiding, as he has been featured in multiple magazine articles and has appeared in a TV show focused on trout fly fishing. The fishing experience takes place aboard a 19’ Mako bay boat, designed for navigating estuaries and bay systems. With space for up to four anglers, the boat is powered by a 115 HP Mercury engine, reaching speeds of up to 35 knots. It is equipped with a GPS system, safety gear, a live bait well, and specialized fly fishing equipment. Anglers should bring a valid Texas saltwater fishing license, along with personal items such as food, drinks, sunblock, sunglasses, a cap, and comfortable footwear (avoiding black soles). Given the abundance of fish, bringing a camera is highly recommended. Smoking is not permitted onboard. Fish can be released or prepared at a nearby restaurant for a fresh meal after the trip. These trips offer a valuable opportunity to learn the art of fly fishing. With patience and guidance from Captain Mark, anglers can refine their technique and enjoy the excitement of landing a Snook in the scenic Texas inshore waters.

Redfish

Aggressive redfish attacks prove this crab fly is a serious weapon on the flats.

Last week I was guiding and took Nico Crespo out, polled him around on my skiff. I called out a redfish at nine o'clock when he cast to it with a particular fly he had that he calls a strong arm crab! The cast was a little off and behind the fish, and the fish turned aggressively and attacked that crab fly and ate it. I was impressed! So today i went fly fishing. Nico had tied me some strong arm flies, I used one and I've proven them to be as effective as it was that day with him. I cast to three pods of tailing catfish, with about one redfish, for every seven to ten catfish, and pulled a redfish out each time. Then, on one of my casts, I saw an individual redfish coming at me and I cast about thirty feet, and I was about a foot and one half short of the fish as I was about to pick up the line and recast the fish attacked it like he pushed a Nos button on a high performance car and aggressively took that fly. I'm telling you that these flies work! To find out the price and the color combinations please feel free to call Nico at, 956-312-3890
